Margate & Surrounding Area - Seaside Guide
Margate in Kent lies at the eastern end of the Thames estuary and has been a popular seaside resort since the mid-18th century and maintains more than its fair share of pubs, clubs and restaurants, as well as a lively funfair. Although Margate has a familiar British seaside image synonymous with so many old postcard it actually has a rather picturesque side to it with a small harbour, fine sandy beaches and a long promenade. The beach is an impressive stretch of golden sand with donkey rides, a bouncy castle and boating pool, making this a very popular place for young children and families There is also the famous Theatre Royal, which is one of the oldest theatres in the country as well as plenty of bars and nightclubs to choose from making a night out in Margate enjoyable and eclectic.

Margate is within easy reach of London accounting for its popularity which also accounts for Margate’s growing “trendier” image. Away from the water both the Old and New Town and the Market Place are worth a walk around and of course there is plenty to keep shoppers entertained in the city centre as well as a great choice of pubs and restaurants.
