Blackpool - Seaside Guide
Blackpool, like many UK seaside resorts owes its popularity as a major holiday destination to the arrival of the railways in the 19th century. Today though, Blackpool Pleasure Beach stands alone as Great Britain’s largest tourist attraction pulling in 6.5 million visitors a year – as well as being the most popular seaside resort in Europe! This is really no surprise as Blackpool offers just about everything from the 518 ft Blackpool Tower, miles of sandy beaches, the 7 mile long promenade, an ice rink, the “Golden Mile” of amusement arcades and pubs, swimming pools, golf courses, amusement parks, a zoo, three piers, an aquarium and the Pepsi-Max roller-coaster, one of the highest in the world at 256 ft, as well as the world-famous Blackpool Illuminations.
